My name is Bob Hewitt and I live in Erith, which is in the northern part of the London Borough of Bexley, United Kingdom. I'm married to Jenny and have two grown up children. We're now both retired and have an allotment in Welling, Kent which keeps us fit and healthy as well as providing us with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. |

My main hobby has been Short Wave Radio followed by Amateur Radio since obtaining a full UK transmitting licence in 1981. My callsign is G4MHJ. Now that computers have nearly taken over our way of life, the hobby has unfortunately declined in its fascination. It's all too easy now to talk to anybody in the world without radio interference. See my QSL-Cards from the 1960-1970's period. Since retiring nine years ago I've managed to make further studies of our Family History. With the help of other researchers I've been able to add seventeen thousand names to our joint family tree. I am currently researching my mother's Scottish roots from Musselburgh, a town just east of Edinburgh. This has linked me to the Graham, Martin, Binnie and Wilson families in and around Bathgate, West Lothian. I have added some images on my Genealogy page from a recently discovered photograph album. My historically famous ancestor is Governor William Bradford of the Mayflower fame. He's my second cousin 11 times removed. I have recently discovered that I am distantly related to Russell Ira Crowe the New Zealand born Australian actor. I have started to display some photographs from our garden in the Gardening section. A new diary page has also been created together with a gardening blog for any comments etc. Within the Gardening section you will find some photographs of visits to gardens this year as well as visits made in previous years.
