NT Fountains Abbey, North Yorkshire - 23rd April 2010

This is a very famous and historic site that suffered Henry VIII's reformation policies. Set in the naturally beautiful Skell valley it is known as the "Wonder of the North". I wasn't sure what to expect and as we walked down to the valley from the Visitor Centre I took a picture of a small church tower in the distance. Small was a complete understatement as you can see from my second image! Adjacent to the ruins are the Studley Royal Water Gardens. Unfortunately we were too tired to walk the mile distance to them. The final image is not my own but I hope to go back one day.
